On Tuesday, March 24th, our book group will meet at 7:00 PM at Trident Booksellers and Café to discuss our latest read Philanthrocapitalism: How the Rich Can Save the World by Matthew Bishop and Michael Green.

According to the authors’ own book synopsis, Philanthrocapitalism comprises case studies of the super-rich who are reshaping the way they give around business investment models. The authors describe their book as a fascinating look at a small group of people (including Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, and George Soros, among others), who change an enormous number of lives.

Michael Edwards of the Ford Foundation has written a rebuttal to this book called Just Another Emperor? The Myths and Realities of Philanthrocapitalism. To provide a balanced and comprehensive analysis of philanthrocapitalism, these rebuttal arguments will be incorporated into the book discussion as well.
