The lovely weather this month has served to remind me that Spring in Boston is finally in full swing. There are blossoms on the trees, some of which smell amazing, and tulips popping out of the ground. I’ve finally put away the heavy coat and snow boots and traded them in for a revitalized sense of adventure. The month of April saw a few firsts for me, some of which I plan to do again – such as attend the Boston Independent Film Festival and roast a good friend for his birthday. Others, however, I do not plan on repeating – many people find escargot and oysters delicious. I am not one of those people.
The end of April and first few weeks of May also mark two firsts for Net Impact Boston. NIB is one of the organizations involved in the April 29th Networking the Networks event along with MassINC, The New Prosperity Initiative and YNPN. The idea behind this social is to introduce our community to other civic-minded organizations, and their members, within the Boston area. With well over 200 RSVPs, this has shaped up to be our largest event for 2010 thus far. Secondly, Saturday May 22nd will mark our first friends and family event – an outing to George’s Island. This social – which will consist of a BBQ as well as some other fun activities – will give NIB members a chance to kick back, relax and enjoy the great outdoors together. Net Impact Boston is working hard to strengthen ties not only within our community, but also between NIB and other like-minded professional organizations in the Boston area. If you haven’t made it out to a Net Impact event yet in 2010, I hope one of these will be your first.
