The Meaning of CSR, Ignite-style

Local sustainability practitioners will deliver fast paced presentations on “The Meaning of CSR and Sustainability Within Organizations.”   A group discussion will follow.

Make sure to mark your calendar for an evening of Ignite-style presentations and discussion to be held at Harvard University. The presentations feature a number of prominent CSR/sustainability practitioners.  After the presentations, the participants join facilitated groups to further discuss the meaning of sustainability in their professional life and the organizations that they serve.  Each group will report their findings, and attendees will help select the next topic for a NIB-Ignite encore event.  Don’t miss the fun!

Get Involved  with Our Chapter: Call-to-Leadership & New Member Happy Hour

Come toast the New Year and kick it off by getting more involved with our Chapter. Please join us for a happy hour if you are interested in being part of our Board, meeting other members, or both!

NIB is looking to fill the talent pipeline. Come meet with a few members of our Board and learn about the benefits of being a member of our team. We’ll discuss where we need extra hands – currently with events and social media/marketing – and what these roles entail. This is a great opportunity to lend your passion and business experience to furthering social and environmental good.

Taza Chocolate Tour 1/18/12

Learn about the benefits of “direct trade” sourcing from small farmers as we tour a local chocolate factory.  Taza Chocolate produces 100% stone ground, organic chocolate using high-quality ingredients and is dedicated to environmental sustainability and to compensating growers fairly for their work.  For more about the company, see www.tazachocolate.com.

Net Impact will have its own private tour of the factory, to see the chocolate-making process and to hear more about Taza’s business practices.  And yes, there will be samples!  Following the tour, we will walk to Atwoods Pub for food, drinks, and discussion.

Holiday Event THU 12/15

Happy Hour with Giving!  In celebration of the holidays and the season of giving, NIB will be collecting book, DVD, CD and video game donations for More Than Words. More Than Words is a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers youth who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business.
