Board Fellows 2012: Get Involved!

Join the Board Fellows team.  The Board Fellows program is one of Net Impact Boston’s premiere initiatives and we need your help to make it even stronger.  If you are interested in volunteering to join the team of leaders who run the Board Fellows program—and want to have the opportunity to interact with leaders of some of the city’s most inspiring nonprofits—please send an email to boardfellows@netimpactboston.org.

Board Fellows Orientation Event 9/20/11

The event will showcase a panel of private sector senior executives–who also serve as Board members of Boston-area non-profit organizations. These executives will discuss their experiences as board members. The event will provide prospective Fellows and Organizations with a great opportunity to learn more about the program, hear what it’s like to serve on a board, and to network with current, former, and future Board Fellows!

Speakers include:

Sarah Appleby

Sarah is a freelance consultant providing strategic planning, operations streamlining, and market analysis services to organizations with a social mission. She holds an MBA in Nonprofit Management from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University and a BA in Education from Hampshire College. She has worked as a Project Manager at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and a Program Coordinator for the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center and the Jewish Multiracial Network. A long-time resident of the Boston area, Sarah has a particular love of urban green spaces and community gardens, having worked on several farms in New England over the years.

Marla Capozzi

Marla is a senior innovation expert in McKinsey’s Boston office. She has been with McKinsey for 11 years.  She has served a range of global clients in financial services, media, consumer and social sectors with a focus on developing breakthrough innovation strategies as well as mobilizing for innovation. Her expertise also includes knowledge and talent management, and product development. Prior to joining McKinsey, Marla led product development at the Lotus-IBM Innovation Centre where the group launched the industry’s first collaboration, learning, knowledge management and commerce software solutions.  Marla has published leading articles in the McKinsey Quarterly, Sloan Management Review, Strategic Finance and Banking Strategies.  She is on the Board of Trustees of Babson College and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for Project Bread, a local hunger organization.

Board Fellows Update

Board Fellows Application Opening on August 22nd!

The Board Fellows program will begin accepting applications for its Fall 2011 placement on Monday, August 22. Those who are interested in participating should plan to attend our panel event the week of September 12 (specific date and location TBD). A panel of private sector senior executives–who also serve as Board members of Boston-area non-profit organizations–will discuss their experiences as board members. The event will provide prospective Fellows and Organizations with a great opportunity to learn more about the program, hear what it’s like to serve on a board, and to network with current, former, and future Board Fellows!
