Scott Bailey, Senior Director of Partnerships, MassChallenge is a panelist for the “Valuing and Securing Funding for Your Startup” session at the Net Impact Boston Career Summit on February 21st. Here’s a sneak preview of what you’ve got to look forward to.
What inspired you to pursue a career with positive social or environmental impact?
A passion for helping people, especially entrepreneurs, and helping to develop a community of people that are trying to solve some of the world’s toughest and biggest problems.
What’s the most interesting/most fun/most challenging aspect of your job?
Most interesting – I have a ton of responsibility and I get to meet a ton of people that are nearly impossible to access in normal situations.
Pitching – I love getting people involved with the program and pitching MassChallenge to get people involved.
Most Challenging – Growing is a great challenge, but a great opportunity. Making sure you constantly deliver quality of services, support and value for people is hard when you don’t always have the infrastructure or resources available.
What advice would you give to those looking for a career with a positive social or environmental impact?
Find something you care about and do anything you can to be a part of it. Make sure you surround yourself with incredibly smart people. They’ll pull you up.
