NIB Career Q&A: Ezra Benjamin, Principal Program Manager, Sustainability, EMC

Ezra Benjamin, Principal Program Manager, Sustainability, EMC is a panelist for the “Supply Chain: Sourcing for Sustainability” session at the Net Impact Boston Career Summit on February 21st. Here’s a sneak preview of what you’ve got to look forward to.

What inspired you to pursue a career with positive social or environmental impact?
I’ve always been connected to the environment and been involved in the sciences, so a career that combined the two was something I was naturally drawn to.

What’s the most interesting/most fun/most challenging aspect of your job?
The best part of my job is the breadth of interactions I have across the company. In one day I can interact with Sales, a supplier, Manufacturing personnel and the Logistics team. I feel lucky to be someone who can work across silos. Feeling like you are making a positive change is good too.

What advice would you give to those looking for a career with a positive social or environmental impact?
Think about the business aspects first. You’ll be far more successful and have more opportunities if you examine social and environmental issues from a business perspective. This approach will make you more likely to influence and then become a decision maker.

Sign up today to come to the Career Summit on February 21st and join the panel “Supply Chain: Sourcing for Sustainability” to hear more from Ezra.
