Emily grew up in Truckee, a small, mountainous town in Northern California, to a South African mother and Lebanese father. She discovered her passion for women’s issues and gender equity while studying Gender Studies and International Studies at Boston College. After college, Emily taught English at a high school in central China, and then transitioned into working in gender and developing program implementation and international development consulting. Emily has worked as an organizational development consultant for USAID with Social Impact in DC, in UN Women’s West and Central Africa Regional Office in Senegal, Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, and interned in various domestic and international nonprofits. Emily is now studying business for social impact at the Fletcher School at Tufts, and dedicated to using the power of business as a force for good.
