Isa is a Director of the non-profit called Illampu: Sustainability Epicenter. Illampu means “ray of hope”, which is exactly what this project represents to the agricultural community of Viracochasi, Peru. Illampu is a multi-faceted solution for a complex problem, as it aims to conserve and reforest the rainforest by empowering locals and enhancing their quality of life. Isa has given a course in Paraguay called “Science and Technology for ethical and sustainable development”. Isa has also given lectures in Mexico to inspire youth to advocate for their ideals while understanding the objective truths of our society. Isa completed her Masters thesis at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Molecular Biology. She is currently a computational biologist at Massachusetts General Hospital researching novel prognostic RNA profiles for a pediatric cancer, and has 8 publications in this field.
