Net Impact Boston is committed to helping those in and advancing the cause of the social impact community, as such we are pleased to announce our new Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice Statement. This statement is intended to outline our commitment to embedding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) principles into our programming, partnerships and operations.
Net Impact Boston (NIB) stands against systems, practices and beliefs that seek to oppress, minimize, and ignore the humanity and dignity of people, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, xenophobia and all other forms of oppression. As such, NIB is committed to embedding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) principles into our programming, partnerships and operations.
As an organization dedicated to mobilizing and developing future leaders to use their careers to drive positive social and environmental change in the world, Net Impact Boston believes diversity, equity, inclusion and justice is important to fostering a culture of belonging and to empowering everyone, especially communities that are often marginalized, neglected and discredited, to contribute their skills, talent and ideas to making a difference.
We aim to create opportunities for emerging social and environmental impact professionals through educational programming, career skills development, strategic partnerships and Board Fellows program. These four areas of focus are centered around our efforts to build societal equity and advocate for inclusive environmental justice in relation to and across intersections of race, sex, color, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, citizenship, ancestry, social class, economic class, ethnicity, ability, faith, religion and all other identities represented among the diverse communities of the Greater Boston area.
We value the perspectives of the communities we engage with and commit to receiving and incorporating feedback from them, as well as our members, our partners, our vendors, locally based nonprofits and student chapters, so that we can better serve our stakeholders and continuously improve our programming and organizational impact.
We acknowledge that we operate on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Massachusett people, as well as their relatives and neighbors among the Nipmuc and Wampanoag Peoples. We pay respect to the people of the Massachusett Tribe, past and present, who have lived and have stewarded this land for hundreds of generations. We recognize and condemn the historic and current violence perpetrated against Indigenous peoples and stand firm in pursuing a culture of respect, truth and accountability.
